In our center, a pediatric neurologist as part of a multidisciplinary team examines children from birth to 18 years old, using the principles of evidence-based medicine. At the same time, a combination of effective world standards for providing neurological care is used.
How is the examination by a pediatric neurologist?
Having familiarized himself with the anamnesis and complaints in detail, the doctor begins the examination:
- Assesses muscle tone;
- Assesses pathological movements, convulsive attacks (if present);
- Evaluates superficial and deep reflexes;
- Assesses the degree of development of cognitive and communicative functions;
- Assesses the state of coordination of the child;
- Assesses the level of skill development according to the child’s age.
Based on these data, a diagnosis is established and an individual rehabilitation program is created for the child.
If necessary, a neurologist may prescribe additional examinations:
- MRI, CT scan of the spinal cord or brain;
- Ultrasound of the brain with dopplerography of its vessels;
- X-ray examination of the spine;
- EEG – mapping;
- Laboratory studies (immunological, biochemical, genetic).
