This baby first came to our St. John’s Center Charitable Foundation in November 2020. For a year now, Vika’s mother has entrusted us with the rehabilitation of her greatest treasure.
Nicole was born on time, the pregnancy went well. But something went wrong during the birth. As a result & ndash; the girl did not sit down in time, did not crawl, etc. Doctors did not give comforting predictions about the further physical and mental development of the child and considered her completely blind.
We can only guess what emotions my mother was experiencing at the time. But she did not give up and turned to our center for help. Time was on our side, because the first three years of a child’s life are considered the best period for rehabilitation.
Nicole came to us at the age of 1 year and 6 months. She held her head and could roll over, but she didn’t sit, crawl, get to her feet, or walk.
The whole team of our center (doctors, speech therapists, psychologists, physical therapists), as well as the family of the child worked together.
During the year Nicole underwent 6 courses of rehabilitation. The girl together with a physical therapist trained to sit, crawl, learn to stand up and walk. Together with the occupational therapist she developed fine motor skills. A psychologist helped to learn about the environment, and a speech therapist practiced language.
During rehabilitation, physical therapists noticed that Nicole was beginning to see, to pay attention to the surrounding objects. The girl was sent to an ophthalmology clinic, where her diagnosis was changed and glasses were prescribed.
As a result, today Nicole sits down on her own, crawls, tries to get up at the support, can walk with both hands. She began to see and play with toys. The girl had & rsquo; lepit.
The child’s overall functional status increased by 19.4% on the GMFCS scale.
Nicole and her family have become good friends and continue to fight for the quality of her life. We are incredibly happy with the success of a girl who is overcoming obstacles and difficulties step by step. And we thank Nicole’s parents for their trust.
We wish health, new victories and success to the little princess and her family.
