Innovative technologies have developed significantly in rehabilitation. With the help of modern robots, it is possible to improve the rehabilitation process, prevent the regression of the achieved results, monitor changes and help maintain the high-quality functionality of children and adults.
In the John’s center, among other technical devices for rehabilitation, a unique device appeared – a pneumatic robot-trainer for the rehabilitation of the function of the hand.
The action of the robot is aimed at restoring the movements of the hand, the function of which has been partially or completely lost. It consists of a compressor control unit with a touch screen and passive gloves that perform training movements in the weak limb.
In addition, the robot provides an opportunity to transfer the movements of the fingers of the stronger hand to the fingers of the weaker hand, training its function.
The pneumorobot trainer is used for rehabilitation in such problems as:
- rheumatic diseases, joint dystrophy, chronic inflammation;
- rehabilitation after strokes, brain injuries and operations;
- rehabilitation for cerebral palsy;
- neuropathies, including carpal tunnel syndrome;
- stiffness and pain in the joints;
- rehabilitation for hemiplegia;
- the problem of cold hands;
- problems with blood circulation.
A specialist working with a pneumorobot individually selects the power of the device for each patient, taking into account its functional capabilities. By gradually increasing or decreasing the pressure of the device, the independent functionality of the patient increases.
The following types of training are programmed for pneumorobot: passive movement with assistance at the beginning, with reverse resistance, mirror training, gesture training. Gloves are available in four sizes: S, M, L, XL.
Robotic rehabilitation is a promising new technology for patients with movement disorders, regardless of their age.
