Inclusive integration classes: we unite children and give joy!
On the territory of the John’s center, inclusive integration events are regularly held for children undergoing rehabilitation courses and children from the local community. These events provide an opportunity for unity, development and boundless joy.
The tolerance of Ukrainian society towards children and adults with disabilities, unfortunately, still remains quite low. The reasons for this are barriers in the environment, the technical inadequacy of public places, and the psychological unreadiness of healthy people to see and interact with people with disabilities.
But this attitude will never change as long as children and adults with disabilities hide within four walls. Paradoxical, but a fact: going out into the wide world is difficult, there are many obstacles, but if you don’t go out, it will never get easier and better. We organize integration events precisely so that patients of the center can communicate with each other in a large company and take part in activities together with healthy children and adults.
Measures include:
- Fun and interesting mobile games that give children a charge of energy and positivity;
- Sports competitions: team or individual competitions that help develop sports skills and teach teamwork and mutual support;
- Creative master classes: children make crafts together, draw and get to know the world of creativity;
- Festive events: bright and unforgettable large and chamber holidays that give children an atmosphere of joy and unity. These are St. Nicholas Day, Christmas, Easter, Children’s Day, etc.;
- Trips, trips to concerts and festivals, trips to rest camps.
Inclusive integration measures:
- They contribute to the socialization of children with disabilities: they find new friends, learn to communicate and interact with other children;
- Develop tolerance and acceptance: children learn to understand and appreciate diversity, as well as treat each other with respect and kindness;
- They give joy and positive emotions: joint games, competitions and holidays give children unforgettable impressions and a charge of positivity.
Thanks to such measures, children undergoing rehabilitation, especially children with disabilities, together with children of the local community have the opportunity to:
- Communicate and make friends;
- Develop together, because children learn from each other, develop their skills and talents;
- To create an atmosphere of unity and acceptance, because children understand that all people are different, but this does not make them worse or better.
